(Mark & Sara New Year's 2009)
Welcome to 2009 here's to a year full of new experiences & memories, CHEERS!
Yesterday before the Vikings game (boo hiss, may I add) I sat with my close friend Nate and went through every folder on my computer of pictures just for 2008. This process & laughter lasted a great two hours possibly. Not only do some memories feel like they were forever and a day ago, but while laughing I don't think I'll remember the year 2008 as I did before.
Before when Mark and I sat and reflected together we thought it was a painful year through some months, but as well as many great memories were made. I think a great lesson learned for us was mostly about our family in lots of ways. We remembered that we had & will go to the extra lengths to see them & spend time together. This has been something I've valued ever since my Grandpa Johnson passed away and have tried make my priority for my life and Mark's. I will never forget the last excursion of 2008 was driving to St. Cloud for Mark's cousin Jon's Graduation from college gathering. Now it took us 3 hours to get there, but once seated and sipping on our Bloody Mary I won't forget that day. Not only do I always enjoy his Aunt Val & Uncle Jerry, but also Uncle Dick & Aunt Jean. We sat at the table with "grown ups" so to speak. Great conversation was had and just getting to know each other more and more feels great! On our way up north this summer we definitely need to stop by in Aitkin for a good visit.
Speaking of Thompson's we have our first new tradition we're starting this year, the first annual Thompson Cousin After X-Mas Party! We've invited all the Thompson cousins over for snacks, games, and laughs. This should be really fun and look forward to hosting it at the original Thompson house of course!! See pictures in the next blog.
Now onto goals and plans for our upcoming year:
*Building new floating dock at Fairview (in planning stages) to be built and completed by Memorial Day Weekend '09
*New Roof on Hickory House this Spring yay!!!
*Continuing cleaning out the house and preparing our basement for its next phase :) Play/Work basement haha
*Carpet on stairs (after Mark has now fallen down them OUCH, we decided its definitely time)
*Painting front of house-Yay again!
*Sara it going for another 30 lbs to lose :) teaching lots of Zumba & Weight Training, getting my Personal Trainers Certification, and also starting some new Zumba classes in multiple areas.
*Mark will down a few lbs himself or shall we say getting in great shape!
*Spending as much time as we can up north over the summer!
*Traveling to rare parts of the state during the winter (Bemidji, Alexandria, Grand Marais, Duluth, etc.)
*Mark's bday bash in Chicago (June 13th with Holly, my parents, and our friends)
*Sara is heading to west again in October to Vegas and hopefully California
Just to recap on our holidays it was eventful! X-Mas eve was awesome with the Ross Family over at my parents. Definitely won't forget that night as we drank a lot ooopsy, I almost beat my cousins at Guitar Hero on expert, we were late for the church service (oopsy again) we had the last couple songs at least, our late night happy hour was awesome (you'll see the pictures) at my parents, that was a tradition we carried over from G & Grandpas back in the day, I stayed up late with my two bf guy buddies Nate & Matt playing g. hero, x-mas morning was awesome lots of great gifts, and X-Mas Day/Night was at Pup & Cher's relaxing with the girls. Friday the 26th was the best day we got to greet & meet my new baby cousin Jeong Tae from Seoul, Korea. My cousin Hans & wife Margaret had quite the journey but made it home with baby in hand :) That same day we had our annual x-mas party with all of our close friends and it was rather tame this year, but still had shenanigans happening at the house :) tons of fun!
We celebrated X-Mas with Holly on Sunday the 27th and ate her yummy shrimp enchiladas and indulged in wine! Later that evening we all got to celebrate my Mom's b-day at Mamma Maria's with my parents, Dad, and sibs and Holly & Annie joined us too. It was a great holiday season with our family & friends!! Our New Year was celebrated safely down at our friend Adam & Sara Bonine's home in Hastings. We ate & drank the night away and Mark still managed to get some guys to go snowboarding at Welch Village the next day too.
As you can see we've had lots of great new goals & new things adventures going on so we'll have lots of things to talk about in the upcoming year! Happy 2009 to you all!
